Custom Air-Cooled Portable Chiller Solution for FortyCreek Distillery Ltd

In 2023, Berg was engaged to design and supply a custom air-cooled portable chiller package for FortyCreek Distillery Ltd, a Canadian Whisky Distillery, requiring an upgrade from their existing water-cooled unit. The new chiller package was specifically designed to cool a 25,000-liter tank containing a 25% propylene glycol solution, ensuring reliable and efficient thermal management.

Leveraging our deep expertise in portable air-cooled chillers, Berg engineered a custom single-circuit chiller with a cooling capacity of 8TR, designed to seamlessly replace the existing system. Key components of the solution included:

• Refrigerant: The chiller was charged with R407c, known for its efficiency and environmental benefits.
• Compressor: Equipped with a reliable scroll compressor for efficient and quiet operation.
• Cooling Components: The package featured a stainless steel tank, an air-cooled condenser, and a brazed plate evaporator, all designed to enhance the system's cooling performance.
• Pumping System: Included two centrifugal circulation pumps to ensure consistent flow and cooling throughout the glycol tank.
• Additional Features: The system also came with a side stream filter, spare cartridges, and a touch screen HMI for easy operation and monitoring.
