Berg Chilling Systems Inc. is a global leader in designing, manufacturing, installing, and servicing advanced thermal process control systems for a wide array of industries. With over five decades of experience, our expertise extends to pumping, chilling, freezing, and heating applications, positioning us at the forefront of thermal management solutions worldwide.
Our extensive portfolio includes the delivery of thousands of industrial refrigeration systems to clients across over 50 countries. We cater to a diverse range of sectors including transportation, chemical and petrochemical, manufacturing, building and construction, food and beverage, national defense, natural resources, recreational sports, and many others.
A notable achievement in 2020 was our project for the CCAT Observatory, where we designed and supplied a bespoke dry cooler module. This system, built for the demanding conditions of high-altitude, dusty outdoor environments, offers a robust 150KW cooling capacity per unit. It efficiently delivers a 55-58°F (12.7-14.4°C) 50% Dowfrost solution to the telescope, with a flow rate of 80 GPM, serving 4 compressors and 5 cabinets. The design facilitates easy expansion, allowing additional fluid coolers to be integrated, increasing the total capacity to up to 450kW.
This custom solution also includes a dry cooler module for cooling helium compressors and electrical cabinets of the CCATPrime telescope. Designed for an 18,000 ft mountain location with extreme temperatures ranging from -21°C to 9°C, the system's scope included a fluid cooler mounted on a shipping container mechanical room, complete with two centrifugal pumps, an expansion/buffer tank, air separator, sensors, and a PLC system featuring a touch screen HMI for optimal control and integration.
