Berg Chilling Systems was selected to design and supply a custom cooling tower and process cooling system for Peninsula Plastics in Fort Erie, Ontario. This project was part of a Save On Energy Incentive, focusing on energy-efficient cooling solutions to support injection molding operations.

Client Challenge

Peninsula Plastics required a reliable and scalable cooling solution capable of:

• Supporting an injection molding process with a dedicated chilled water and cooling tower system.
• Integrating energy-efficient components to qualify for the Save On Energy Incentive.
• Ensuring redundancy and flexibility with dedicated process, chiller evaporator, and condenser pumps.
• Delivering high-efficiency operation with variable speed screw chillers and cooling towers.

Berg’s Tailored Solution

Berg provided a custom-engineered cooling system designed for efficiency, reliability, and energy savings, featuring:

• One 170-Ton and One 270-Ton Cooling Tower with variable-speed fans for optimized cooling.
• Stainless steel reservoir tank with six centrifugal pumps for process, condenser, and tower circulation.
• Automated system control via Schneider PLC with touchscreen interface.
• Stainless steel insulated water tank with five centrifugal pumps for process and evaporator cooling.
• Two 150-Ton Variable Speed Screw Chillers for efficient operation and precise temperature control.

The custom-engineered cooling system ensures energy efficiency, process stability, and long-term reliability for Peninsula Plastics. By incorporating redundant pumps, advanced PLC controls, and high-efficiency cooling towers, Berg’s solution helps optimize production uptime while qualifying for energy incentives.
