Gracious Living, a leader in plastic injection molding, expanded its operations with a new facility in Morgantown, Kentucky, and partnered with Berg to implement a clean-loop cooling system modeled after its successful installation in Woodbridge, Ontario.

The goal was to supply a scalable process cooling system to support current production needs while allowing for future capacity expansion. Berg designed the system to be delivered in two phases, incorporating chillers, heat exchangers, stainless steel tanks, pumping systems, and advanced filtration technologies.

Client Challenge

Gracious Living required a solution that would:

• Provide 180 tons of process cooling with future expansion to 240 tons.
• Integrate two water-cooled chillers, one of which would be added later.
• Separate the clean chilled water loop from the tower water loop using heat exchangers and filtration.
• Maintain water quality with automated filtration and side-stream cleaning.
• Incorporate redundancy in pumps and equipment to avoid process downtime.

Berg’s Tailored Solution

To meet the client’s requirements, Berg delivered a phased, modular cooling system designed for long-term reliability and performance:

• One Stainless Steel Chiller Tank with four centrifugal pumps
• One Stainless Steel Water Tank with three process pumps
• Two 121TR Water-Cooled Chillers charged with R513A Refrigerant
• Two Gasketed Plate And Frame Heat Exchangers
• One Full Flow MLS Filte
• One Tekleen Automatic Filter for Chilled Water System

Berg’s solution provides Gracious Living with a clean, efficient, and expandable cooling system that supports current operations and future growth. The use of dual-loop separation, automated filtration, and ASME-certified components ensures system longevity, low maintenance, and consistent process temperatures for injection molding applications.
