Stainless Steel Tower Tank

In 2023, Berg Chilling Systems designed and supplied a custom cooling system for Zekelman Industries’ Wheatland Tube facility in Blytheville, Arkansas. The system was engineered to support two tube mills used for producing galvanized conduit pipes for the electrical industry. Each mill received an independent cooling system to manage the cooling of pipes, welding equipment, air compressors, and associated hydraulics.

The client required a durable and efficient cooling solution for their expanding production facility. The system needed to provide high-capacity cooling for critical equipment and handle varying ambient conditions while integrating seamlessly with their existing infrastructure.

Berg’s Tailored Solution: Berg designed a complete cooling system featuring:

Cooling Towers: Six fiberglass cooling towers (150-ton each) with stainless steel internal hardware and a total capacity of 900 tons, including one spare.
Tank and Pump Assembly: A 6,700-gallon stainless steel tower tank with four 25 HP tower pumps (one backup) and a 50 HP process pump, all controlled by VFDs for optimal performance.
Heat Exchanger and Filtration: Plate and frame heat exchanger with sediment filtration, basket strainer, and side-stream filtration system to maintain water quality.
Control Panel: Centralized PLC system with manual and automatic control options, visual/audible alarms, and remote access capabilities.
Chemical Treatment: BCP3 controller with automatic feed and bleed-off for precise chemical management.
