In 2017, Berg did a complete ammonia refrigeration plant overhaul for a university’s ammonia refrigeration system as part of its system refurbishment and upgrade. The ammonia service includes an ice rink cooling system with three reciprocating compressors, three plate and frame chillers, six secondary refrigerant pumps with variable frequency drives, upgrade of single secondary refrigerant header to individual headers for each ice pad, innovative virtual ammonia surge drum relocation using controls and a new header. Berg service and staff also did the mechanical and electrical installation of the system.
